Submission Guidelines

Manuscripts should be accompanied by a cover letter explaining the author's vision of a completed work. At this preliminary stage, efforts spent on a finished layout are most likely wasted. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for a return of the manuscript. Do not send the only copy; manuscripts can be lost in the mail.

If our readers believe a manuscript is deserving of publication, it is given a critical examination by an editor. A meeting is then arranged to discuss more fully the author's vision and editorial concerns. In the case of poetry, the editor would like to have a large selection from which to choose.

Once a manuscript is edited with changes agreed to by the author, it should be submitted to Closet Books on a diskette or CD in an agreed upon format.

The journey from initial evaluation to printing can take from three months to more than a year because of the extensive proofing done at each stage of completion.
