"The Purple Moose" was published by Robert Crane Books in 1998 as a poetry coloring book for children by Vonnie Van. The moose has traveled as far away as Wales and "The Purple Moose" shop in Skagway, Alaska.

"The Purple Moose", a departure from the previous chapbook style books, is published under the Robert Crane Books imprint.

The cover was designed by Jenny Ashford, the author of numerous children's stories.
